HNY, High Shelter people.
Although I got zero rest over the holidays, I did have a chance to take stock of my listening habits. So I’m starting off the new year with a formal public acknowledgment of feudal allegiance to the artist Jeffrey Martin, the guy who made my favorite record of 2023.
I got turned on to Mr. Martin by his manager Steve Foxbury, famously of the band My Friend Steve (sadly, I had no involvement in naming the band even though Steve and I have been friends for 30+ years)
Jeffrey has been making records for well over a decade, so I’m late to the program, but glad to be here now. Climb aboard and do yourself a favor, if you haven’t already, and get a copy of his latest album “Thank God We Left the Garden”.
It’s a great soundtrack for the moment just before the world is waking up, or when you are the only one awake. I’ve listened to it many times just as the first light creeps through the trees out my window.
There are too many great songs on this album to pick one favorite, but “Paper Crown” was stuck in my head all day yesterday - so I took it for a spin.
Thank you Jeffrey (and Steve) for waking me up.
Wishing you all peace, health, and more peace in ‘24.
I’ll be here at High Shelter if you need me. More to share soon.
Yours,
JR
Thank you, Sir! Looking into this album pronto.
Great song for this morning.
