Here comes a new segment for High Shelter—songs collected from my iPhone, cassette recorder, 4-track and other low-fi,-down-and-dirty late-night recordings.
Today's episode: Bob Dylan's "The Man in Me."
If you and I have ever spent time jawing about favorites, you’ll already know that I love the Coen brothers, Jeff Bridges, and Dylan. I can get you a toe—you know what I mean? The lyrics to this Dylan gem have been especially formative for me. I recognize the man he sings of, the one who hides from himself and others, but who is ultimately revealed by love.
But, oh, what a wonderful feeling!
Just to know that you are near
It sets my heart a-reeling,
from my toes up to my ears
Though they are Dylan's words, they ring true to my life, and it felt pretty damn good to sing 'em out loud. Try it sometime. See who’s hiding in there.
Truly,
J Woodrow
Oh my God that was amazing I have goosebumps on my head!!!
More please. This is fantastic.
